Write Yourself into our Story as a Festival Friend

As one of the largest and longest-established annual cultural events in the North of Scotland, Nairn Book and Arts Festival is a truly unique event.

What some people may not know know is that the festival is also a charity, and as such is dependent upon external funding, ticket sales and sponsorship to keep it running.

Which is why we have decided to set up a Friends of the Festival scheme - and we would love for you become a Festival Friend and write yourself into our story.

Why Become a Festival Friend?

Firstly, in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak, we took the decision not to go ahead with this year's planned programme to ensure the health and safety of everyone in the town. We are tentatively looking ahead to 2021 - but we want to ensure that we are in as strong a financial position as we can be when we start to plan next year's festival. We also want to relaunch our website so we can ensure that it works as an effective marketing tool for the festival, and for the town more broadly.

Secondly, festivals like ours have a number of social and economic impacts. They bring new visitors to a town and help to boost the local economy.

Furthermore, it is widely recognised that engagement with art, literature, and the performing arts are vital for stimulating the imagination, irrespective of age, gender, social background or physical ability. Art and culture help address issues relating to mental health and social connectivity among the elderly and vulnerable.

And finally, there are also a number of direct benefits for those who become a Festival Friend, such as the opportunity to book early and a 'thank you' listing on our new website.
