Alexander Stoddart’s monumental sculpture of the great Renaissance architect Leon Battista Alberti will be a highlight – after being completed at the foundry this summer, it travels to its final destination in Indiana in the US. Stoddart is Sculptor in Ordinary to the Queen in Scotland, and this bronze is his largest work to date. Other foundry clients include contemporary artist Gavin Turk, sculptor Laurence Broderick, and artist Leonie Gibbs; the foundry also recently delivered the iconic War Horse memorial, now installed at Ascot.
This is a fantastic chance for people to get an inside view of the incredible projects which staff at Black Isle Bronze foundry work on day to day - awe inspiring art works headed for destinations all over the world – and to be given a first-hand account of how they are created.
We are very grateful to Black Isle Bronze for this opportunity, which will, we hope, raise much needed funding for our festival events in September. We have an ambitious and creative programme planned - all will be revealed on 11th June...
