S.G. MacLean was born in Inverness and raised in the Highlands, and gained an MA and PhD in History from the University of Aberdeen - with a specialisation in sixteenth and seventeenth century Scottish history. After beginning to write fiction in Banffshire, she now lives in Conon Bridge with her husband and four children.

She is the author of six highly acclaimed historical novels, including 'The Seeker', the 2015 winner of the Crime Writers' Association Historical Dagger, and 'The Redemption of Alexander Seaton' - shortlisted for the Saltire first book award and the Historical Dagger.
