Since the 1970’s chamber music of the highest quality has been performed in Nairn.  This is due entirely to the energy and vision of Gordon and Muriel Macintyre who hosted musicians at Clifton House, which was their hotel and latterly their home.  In 1991 they were instrumental in setting up and running the Nairn Performing Arts Guild which became Music Nairn in 2008.  Gordon passed away last year, and is fondly remembered and much missed by many Nairnites.  This concert is arranged in conjunction with Music Nairn to celebrate Gordon’s long involvement with music in Nairn.

Gordon was very fond of Christina and her violinist husband Marcus, and they once gave a private recital at his new house in Geddes.  Christina gave the inaugural recital on Music Nairn’s Steinway piano in 2008, and it is fitting that she should be paying this tribute to Gordon.  Her programme is from the romantic era for which Gordon had a great affinity, albeit probably second to his love of Wagner.
