Shipwrecked on a deserted island rich with natural resources the man tries to escape, building a raft to sail away. A giant sea beast, a red turtle repeatedly foils his plans, beginning a relationship which will be central to both for the rest of their lives.

Produced by Studio Ghibli, this beautifully animated magical-realist fable, full of dynamic, visceral images and textures, was Oscar nominated and received Un Certain Regard Special Award at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

“A work of art which transcends boundaries of language, culture, geography and age. Is is simply magnificent.” The Guardian
